Weight loss is made complicated by the weight loss industry. They like to cash in on peoples’ confusion. A person given great advice and a product that actually works, will no longer be a weight loss consumer. They don’t need “help” any more!
The weight loss industry likes you to remain confused and needing them.
It’s true that I am partly in the weight loss niche. But weight loss is just a small percentage of what I do. As a clinical hypnotherapist I also help people quit smoking, improve confidence, fight phobias, and many other things. I am not dependant on weight loss for my business. I’m happy to help people lose weight for good.
Weight loss boils down to simple maths … Energy In minus Energy Out
If the energy you burn is greater than the energy you consume, you WILL lose weight.
I’ve often heard from disgruntled dieters that it doesn’t matter what they do or how little they eat, they can’t lose weight. They may blame their metabolism or their genes. 99 times out of a 100, this is not true.
It’s impossible to stay the same weight if you consume fewer calories than you burn. For you to remain the same weight, or increase, it MUST come from somewhere. The only place you gain this weight is through eating. Weight cannot magically appear. It’s impossible!
To lose weight you MUST take responsibility. Be honest with yourself. Admit that it’s because you’ve consumed more calories than you’ve burnt. And this is OK.
Because it means that all you need to do to is to burn more calories than you consume. It CAN be done. You CAN lose weight. Often with just a few simple tweaks to your existing diet.
To Gain weight, you only need to over eat slightly, on a consistent basis. This accumulation adds up over the months and years, and creeps up without you noticing. But you can reverse this.
All you need to do is under eat slightly, and you WILL lose weight.
Don’t Get Confused. Getting fit and eating healthy are good things, but they’re separate issues to weight loss. You can be fit and overweight. You can visit the gym 4 times a week, and be fit, but still be over weight. You can also eat some great home cooked healthy foods, but if you eat too much of it, you can still be over weight.
Don’t fall for the confusion tactics of the weight loss industry. They like to mash up the concepts of weight loss, healthy eating and fitness to confuse you.
Just think of weight loss in terms of calories in Vs calories out. It’s simplistic, and easy to follow.
Aim to burn about 500 calories per day more than you consume. As a general rule, females need about 2000 calories per day to maintain their weight. Males need about 2500. Find an online calorie counter or app, so you know how many calories are in your diet. It’s surprising how many calories are hidden in some foods, and how many calories are in some drinks.
If you don’t wish to do any exercise, that’s fine. Consume 1500 calories per day if you are female, and 2000 calories per day if you’re male. This gives you a calorie deficit of around 500 per day.
A pound of fat contains 3500 calories. So if you’re in a calorie deficit of 500 calories per day…
500 x 7 = 3500 This means that a calorie deficit of 500 calories per day will give you a total weight loss of one pound per week.
This might not seem like much, but done consistently you will see good results. In 2 months you’ll lose about 8 pounds. In 6 months that’s 24 pounds. Consistency is the key.
Conclusion
The great thing about losing weight at this rate is that it’s sustainable for a long period of time. You’re not starving yourself and leading a miserable and unhappy life. You CAN stick to this for the long haul.
Permanent changes are required for permanent results.
This gentle way of losing weight IS sustainable, and gives you great rewards in the long term.
Good luck!
